About Mamie

Hi, my name is Mamie (pronounced like Amy, but with an M in front)! I was named after my grandma’s friend, and maybe that is one reason why I have always felt like an old soul with a playful personality.

I grew up as a shy middle child who was often in her own little world. You could find me picking dandelions in the outfield during t-ball practice, feeding the fairies in the woods near our house, or pretending to be a mermaid living in a secret cove in our backyard pool. The truth is, I always felt a bit overwhelmed in the real world and preferred the creative spaces of my mind. This is where I felt most alive, and it has been my journey back to these creative spaces that brings me back home to myself. This is what I wish for everybody; to feel more at home with themselves.

As a therapist, I have worked in a variety of settings with diverse populations. Through my work, I have come to believe that the system of mental health has become caught up in the clinical, medical model often resulting in cold, “one size fits all” treatment. I am here to break open those confines and provide people with a creative, fulfilling and expansive journey towards healing. I am passionate about helping people flourish through accessing the deeper parts of themselves.

So, let’s go outside and breathe in the fresh air! Let’s tap into your creative energy and create a messy painting! Let’s consult the oracle cards and decipher the messages from your spirit guides! Let’s pick the dandelions, feed the fairies, and pretend we are mermaids! I am excited to co-create with you.

The Peony Project

My mother has always commented on peonies having “poor design”; their big, beautiful buds always struggling to hold themselves up, bending at the weight of their boldness, their stems too weak to reinforce their beauty.

I have come to find that this “poor design” is merely a reminder of the necessity of support.

When we create a healthy, strong infrastructure for a peony, whether it is the gentle corral of a rope, or the strong presence of a wire enclosure, they blossom wildly. In order for our true authentic selves to shine, we need to find a support system to hold us up, to cast light on our strengths, and be witness to our growth. When properly supported, we all thrive.

Hence the peony project. My hope is that through the unique offerings with the peony project, you will find the support and connection to Self, Mother Earth and community that you need in order to lift your face to the sun, to shed light on all you have to offer this world, and bloom.
